Seven Up

Ok, this is my last link of general hatred towards ie6! (i swear) This one was way to sweet to pass up. Just one simple line of JavaScript makes your ie6 users aware of their old and moldy browser! Woo! Check out the features:

  • SIMPLE: Just a 1K file, and one line both includes & activates the lightbox.
  • FLEXIBLE: You can force upgrades or allow users to continue on to the site’s content.
  • INFORMATIVE: Explains in plain terms WHY they should WANT to upgrade.
  • CUSTOMIZABLE: Easily match your site’s color scheme.
  • FORGIVING: “Stop bugging me” feature for loyal but stubborn users.

    I agree – I despise IE6. (really all of them…)

I Love this feature, but have a small issue. We have a call center that is still running systems with Windows 2000 and uses custom IE activex features. Definitely a Microsoft browser only shop. IE6 is the latest version of IE that will run on 2k. So, can you do this same check, but also verify that they OS is NOT less than XP? I’d hate to prompt people to upgrade when they are unable to because of a limitation by the operating system.
