I am very sorry that so many people are disappointed by my decision to make this contest. However it has only the most noble of intents. I plan to help a business by giving them a decent design and maybe give their business a little boost. It's a shame when our community of designers is so convoluted that they think that everything is spec work every time someone posts any sort of fun contest. I am not doing free design for everyone I am doing them for one company! And if that companies day gets a little bit brighter for me doing the design then I could really careless what anyone else thinks. Once again I am really sorry but I am still pushing forward with the contest.

Not that this is the typical spec work but it's not far off. I'm pretty sick of Envato covering competitions, spec-work and other things harmful to our already damaged industry. When the economy started spiraling down the first thing to go were advertising and marketing budgets. That means designers are hurting. I know Collis & company no longer have to worry about clients but they should at least consider the impact some of these posts have on the rest of us. To return the "favor", I will avoid buying the products and services of anybody that advertises across the Envato network.
As far as Woot Studios goes: Do something good for your community with your skills. Don't let some company make a profit off of free creative services. Go find a non-profit in your area that could really use your skills. Help those that help others. Our skills have a value and shouldn't given away from free except to a worthy cause.
We'll see if this message even gets posted. I've had other posts censored before. Australia is becoming quite famous for censorship these days.
